Domaine Viticole PUNDEL-HOFFELD
The family winery, whose history began in the 19th century, nestles among the region's most renowned vineyards.
1939-1967 The estate was managed by Jos Hoffeld-Schons.
1970 Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris were planted.
1967 The business was taken over by his niece, Irène Hoffeld, and her husband Lucien Pundel, brother of Jupp Pundel.
1992-1993 The well-known Chardonnay was added to the portfolio. 1993 The rare Muscat Ottonel.
1996 Pinot Noir was cultivated.
1999 Claude Pundel produced part of his Pinot Gris as a rosé wine, i.e. Gris de Gris.
2000 The new wine bar was opened.
2002 Claude Pundel took over the estate from his father.
2005 He is one of the pioneers who reintroduced Saint Laurent red wine in this country.
The wines offer a wide variety: Elbling, Rivaner, Auxerrois, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Muscat Ottonel, Gewürztraminer, Gris de Gris, Pinot Noir and Saint Laurent are available. In addition, exceptional wood barrel or barrique wines are produced. The wines of the ‘Vins de Prestige’ series are a guarantee of quality for wine connoisseurs. The vineyards of the winery are located in Machtum (Hohfels, Widdem, Alwéngert, Gëllebour and Ongkâf), in Wormeldingen (Weinbour and Elterberg), in Ahn (Palmberg) and in Grevenmacher (Leitschberg), as well as Sylvaner and Merlot.
Caves PUNDEL-ERR
The winery has been in the Riesling community of Wormeldingen for generations.
In the 1930s, two Pundel brothers married two Err sisters and founded the current Pundel-Err winery on the Moselle bridge.
In the 1950s and early 1960s, their descendants Jos Ley-Pundel and Jupp Pundel-Senninger took over responsibility for the estate. Over time, the tradition-conscious house has specialised in the production of the king of wines, Riesling, and is the proud owner of a large part of the highly renowned ‘Koeppchen’ vineyard in Wormeldingen. From here, you can enjoy a phenomenal view over the Moselle valley.
In 2001, Caves Pundel-Err produced a sparkling wine made using the classic method, on the initiative and with the help of Claude Pundel.
In addition to Riesling, Auxerrois, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris are also available. The house's favourite Rieslings are ‘Cuvée spéciale’ and ‘Réserve personnelle’. The vineyards are located in Wormeldingen (Niedert, Weinbour, Elterberg, Heiligenhäuschen and Koeppchen).
